Marilyn Tibbitts Lower

Smithfield - Marilyn Tibbitts Lower, 81, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Sunshine Terrace Care Center. Marilyn was born on July 8, 1927 in Lewiston, Utah to Floyd and Marva Bright Tibbitts. She grew up in Lewiston with her three brothers, Farrell, Wes and Ed Tibbitts. She married her best friend, Larry Lower on November 10, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death January 21, 2001. She graduated from North Cache High School in 1945. She was a friend to everyone at school, and was the student body secretary her senior year. While fulfilling her duties, she became good friends with the student body president, Larry Lower. They both shared the love of dancing and gave countless hours of service to others. She was a lifelong member of the LDS church. Over the years she held many positions, including: Relief Society, Young Women and Primary. She and Larry enjoyed teaching the youth to dance, and hosted many activities in their yard. She was also blessed with a beautiful singing voice and shared this talent at many functions in the valley. Marilyn was always involved in various activities. With her hard work ethic, she and her husband Larry, established a successful business, Lower Packing Company, where she continued to work until the last few years of her life. She is survived by her six children: Julie Wayne Samsel, JanKent Linford, Kristie Robert Rogers, Jay Lower, Alan Laura Lower, and Lori Mark Howells. She has 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her father and mother, and her brother Wes Tibbitts. We would like to thank the staff at Terrace Grove Assisted Living and Sunshine Terrace for the special care and attention given to our Mother. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2008 in the Smithfield 19th Ward Chapel, 640 North 200 East, Smithfield, Utah, with Bishop Kelly Pitcher presiding. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, Utah and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to funeral services. Burial will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
