Marie was born in 1920 in New Mexico, to George L. Campbell and Lillie Lee Scott. She was the fifth of six children. Due to her father?s work, her family moved often causing her to attend 17 different schools before graduation from High School. In 1941 she married Benny Brue. They later divorced. They had two daughters, Virginia Nick Casper of Idaho Falls, and Martha Vick of Providence. She married Harry DeVasher. They made their home in Temple City, Calif. She has two step-daughters, Carol Ann Mortensen, Lorna Thompson and a step-son, Joe Wilkins. Marie was tremendously proud of her grandsons, Derik Casper, Jason Casper, Matt Vick and Christian Casper. She has 4 great grandchildren. Marie loved Utah and bought a home in Providence in 1980. She kept her home even after retuning to California when she married Harry DeVasher in 1987. She returned to Providence after his in 1997. At that time, Bruce Wilkes and Brian Olsen helped remodel her home. She often said that it was exactly the home she imagined when she was a child?white with green trim, two stories and beautiful mountains in the distance. Education was always important and we remember her taking college classes ?just because?. There was not limit to her curiosity and it always led her on adventures. She became particularly interested in the Titanic and her research led to her being invited to attend a survivor reunion. She was a lifetime member of the Scouts and through her leadership and caring, had a positive impact on countless people who remained in contact throughout her life. Marie?s loves have been her family, the ocean, her home and sharing her life with others. Her great grandchildren and neighborhood children loved to visit and play with her toys and listen to her tales. She loved to share stories of the family moving to California and adventures they had in the ?old days?. She lived an amazing life and had a way of making even the hardest days sound like a gift. She always had a treat for everyone. Many will remember her handing out Milk Fuls just to say ?Thank You? or to cheer their day. Marie passed away November 29, 2005 due to complications from a stroke at the age of 85. We are thankful she was able to spend her last days in the home of her dreams. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Call, the staff who cared for her at LR Hospital, Hospice and many friends and neighbors who have been so kind. At her request there will be no formal funeral service. Her family would like to continue her tradition of sharing her home and Christmas decorations at an open house held December 10, 2005 at her home in Providence from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Pastor Scott Holder of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will conduct a short memorial service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. for those who would like to attend. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a contribution in Marie?s name to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be extended to the family online at
