Marceil Martin McKenzie Our kind, gentle mother and grandmother passed away after a brief illness early in the morning of February 16, 2013. Born March 4, 1921 in their humble home to Chleo Louisa Campbell and Waldemer Marion Martin in Clifton, Idaho. Growing up on a family farm, she had four sisters, Thelma, Sybil, Theda, and Mildred who died as a baby and two brothers, Merwin and Levere who died as a baby. She grew up in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High in 1939. She began dating Gerald McKenzie in high school and they were married on January 18, 1941. They were sealed in the Logan LDS temple on June 28, 1945. After they were married, Gerald and Marceil moved to Preston, Idaho. Their final move was to Logan, Utah in 1952 where they made a home for their family.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Marceil loved the gospel and always walked in faith. She served in many positions including Primary President and Relief Society President twice in the Logan 15th and 16th wards. Most importantly, Marceil spent her life loving and serving her family. She dedicated every waking moment to worrying about and providing for her family. Marceil worked in the Logan Regional Hospital for over 30 years until she retired. Marceil continued to live in Logan until March 2010 when she became an involuntary snowbird, living in Sandy, UT during the summers and Mesa, AZ during the winters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, parents, all of her siblings, and her infant twins. She is survived by her four children, Orvil Linda of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Sherrie Cummings of Pleasant View, Utah; Lee Barbara of Mesa, Arizona; and Cleo Cohen Mark of Sandy, Utah. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Logan 16th Ward Chapel which was built by her loving husband located at 600 North and 100 West, at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 23, 2013. A viewing will be at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Preston City Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.
