Madge Marie Merrill Meyer

September 15, 1925 — July 26, 2007

Our Lovely wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Madge Marie Merrill Meyer, 81, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 26, 2007. Madge was born in Logan, UT to Glacus G. Merrill and Constance Bernhisel. She spent her childhood in Richmond. She had many memories playing with grandparents and cousins, including taking the Bamberger train to visit her Nonnie and Papa Bernhisel in Lewiston. She had a beautiful voice, enjoyed dancing in recitals as a child and at the Donsante Dance Hall with many teenage friends. Madge had many childhood friendships that she cherished throughout her life. She got acquainted with her future husband, Melvin Ralph Meyer as they vied for first chair while playing the clarinet for the North Cache High School Band. Madge and Melvin were married on March 15, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple. In later years Dad would reminisce about how that ?fateful trip to Richmond brought about five beautiful daughters.? Their daughters are Marcia Wayne Johnson, Maxine Cleve Smith, Melanie Ralph Nilson, Maree Kevin Funk, and Monica Jeff Kearl. Our mom loved to sew matching dresses and dancing costumes for her daughters. She taught Special Education for the Cache School District. She enjoyed traveling worldwide with her husband. Madge had a talent for making friends and had a positive attitude towards life. She was an active member of the Smithfield Community Club and bridge club. Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and accepted many callings. She served a mission for the LDS Church at the Logan Distribution Center and volunteered at the Logan Hospital for many years. Madge is survived by her husband, Melvin Meyer and her five daughters, 22 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Mom, we love you! Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the Smithfield Stake Center, 600 East 120 South, Smithfield. There will be a viewing held on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. and also prior to services on Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Alpine Hospice and Dr. Gary Harris for the loving care they gave.
