Mable Vera Bingley Binggeli Kunz Scofield

July 24, 1911 — April 1, 2006

Mable Vera James Bingley Binggeli Kunz Scofield, 94, passed from this mortal existence on April 1, 2006, in Riverdale, Utah at the home of her daughter. She was born July 24, 1911 in Millville, Utah, the 4th child of William Henry and Anna Elizabeth Lammers James. She was raised in Millville and Hyrum where her father was a contractor and later the ice man for the valley. She married Richard Brigham Binggeli at the age of 17 on June 28, 1929 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. They made their home on Main Street in Logan with his mother. Four children were born to them, Richard DelRae, Robert, Paul and Lourene. After just 9 years of marriage, Rich was killed in an accident just blocks away from their home, leaving Mable a widow and the breadwinner of the family. She married Darrell Kunz on June 21, 1944 in Logan. Four children were born to them, Joyce, LaRon, SuzAnne and AlDon. They were later divorced and she was the breadwinner again. On July 23, 1966, she married Burton Louis Scofield and helped him raise his youngest two children, Betty and Burton. He died on May 8, 1977, the most difficult Mother?s Day of her life. Mable was a hard worker. She was employed at Pete?s Café, Jensen?s Candy Factory, the Bluebird Restaurant, and the Sunshine Terrace, while also running a small farm. She lovingly cared for her mother-in-law for more than 35 years. She loved to stay busy. When she retired, she spent most of her time outdoors when the weather would permit. She had a beautiful garden and colorful flowerbeds. In the winter she spent many hours reading. She loved to write letters to her family. Her letters were called ?books? because they were so thick. She was proud of her family and always loved to brag about her exceptional grandchildren. At the age of 78, she was able to obtain her life-long dream of completing her education. After attending night classes for a couple of years, she graduated from Logan High School on May 31, 1985. As she walked across the stage to receive her diploma, she received a standing ovation, which was one of the highlights of her life. Mable was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, holding many leadership positions, although her favorite calling was that of a primary teacher. She was compassionate and did many acts of service for those whom she came in contact with. Mable lived in her home in Logan from the time of her marriage until her later years, when she was unable to live by herself. She has since spent her time between Ogden and New Hampshire, where she was lovingly cared for by her daughters: Lourene, Joyce and SuzAnne. She is survived by her children: Robert Heddy Bingley of Centralia, Washington; Lourene Charley Stearns of Loudon, New Hampshire; Joyce John Parish of Riverdale; LaRon Mary Binggeli of Garland; SuzAnne Lane Harrison of Plain City; AlDon Janet Binggeli of Smithfield; Mary Lou Nelson of Draper; Ava Dennis Milligan of Riverdale; Betty John Fortier of Warden, Washington; and Burton Sandralee Scofield of Cedar City; Daughters-in-law: Mary Bingley of Fairfield, California; and Joan Conk of Costa Mesa, California; 71 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren and 45 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Wayne Ruth James of Bountiful. Her husbands, her parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and sons: Richard DelRae and Paul and one daughter-in-law, Lois Bingley preceded her in death. Our heartfelt thanks to Hospice for Utah and Mount Ogden Rehab for their expert loving care of mother during the last few months of her life. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Logan Northwood Ward Chapel, 125 East 500 North.
