Luther Scrowther McCracken, age 86, son of Henry and Inez Hillyard McCracken, was born February 24, 1920 in Smithfield, Utah and passed away at home in Albuquerque, NM on November 13, 2006, while battling cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Delsa Hebdon McCracken; three sons, Henry Edward, Michael Hebdon and Steven Hebdon; daughter, LaRaine McClure; four daughters-in-law, Deanna S., Beverly S., Cheryl W., and Susan G.; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. McCracken was preceded in death by four brothers; and his son, Luther S. McCracken, Jr. He was a WWII veteran, having served in both the European and Pacific Theaters. Mr. McCracken enjoyed a career as an Electrical Engineer contributing to the early days of space flight. His hobby was Timepiece Production and Repair which he later turned into a business. He was happiest when surrounded by his family. Services will be held Monday, November 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 79 North 1st East, Smithfield, Utah. Friends may visit at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the Smithfield Cemetery with military honors. Condolences may be extended to the family online at
