Lucile Billings Western

December 7, 1923 — February 28, 2010

Lucile B. Western left this life on February 28, 2010. Born in Delta, Utah, on December 7, 1923, Lucile was the second of eleven children born to Gerald Oraian and Anna Wilcox Billings, followed a few minutes later by her twin brother, Cecil. Lucile was raised during the depression and learned very well the adage "waste not, want not." She graduated from Delta High School and attended LDS Business College. After returning to Delta, she worked for the telephone company and for Delta High School, both as a secretary and as a type and shorthand teacher. Lucile married Grant L Western on August 13, 1959, in Kemmerer, Wyoming. They lived in Logan for the first two years of their marriage, then purchased a home in Smithfield–the same home in which she lived until the time of her death. Next to her family, Lucile most enjoyed the many years she volunteered at Summit School and giving away the produce from her garden. Lucile is survived by her husband, Grant, four children: Sharon Scott Gollaher, LJ Western, Patti Brad VanWagoner and Roger Shari Western; five grandchildren: Kenzie Western, Dalton Western, Mitchell Western, BJ Tori VanWagoner, Andy Lori VanWagoner; and three great-grandchildren. Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, her elder sister and her twin brother. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at noon at the Smithfield First/Second Ward Chapel, 175 South 100 West, Smithfield, Utah. There will be no public viewing. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com . The family wishes to thank Alpine Home Care and Hospice for their excellent care of Mom these past few years.
