Our most beautiful Louise Adkins received her wings and went to be with the Lord on June 27th 2024 at the age of 79. Louise was born in the Appalachian mountains of Hazard, Kentucky on July 16, 1944. She grew up with a strong connection to her siblings and with Jesus Christ. Her father worked the local coal mine, and she grew up in The Wabaco Church of God. She graduated from Hazard High and moved on to Lexington where she worked at the local telephone company until she married Jimmy, the love of her life on February 9th of 1965 in Jellico, Tennessee.
To know Louise was to love her. She was full of kindness and compassion and never spoke unkindly of others. She had a keen eye for interior design and created numerous, exquisite homes for her family over the years. Her house was always immaculate. Most importantly, she filled her home with her love, morals and values. Her children are forever grateful for her unconditional love, protection and guidance throughout.
Louise was a devoted, loving wife to Jimmy for 59 years. Not long after their marriage they moved their young family to Naples, Florida, where they raised their children and fulfilled their dreams together. You wouldn’t often find one without the other. They had a love like no other. Southwest Florida became their home and they continued to make a life for themselves there for 45 years. Jimmy and Louise moved to Cache Valley in 2021 to be closer to their son Chris and his family, soon followed by their daughter and her family.
The Family loved being out west after visiting and vacationing many times in Crested Butte Colorado and various National Parks. These were some of her favorite places. She loved hiking , fishing , collecting bouquets of wildflowers and would show her adventurous side at times and go snowmobiling or white water rafting . She inspired her children’s love of the mountains and the outdoors and being with nature. She loved the changes in leaves and spent time in Maine and Alaska, both fishing and whale watching. Louise was the essence of unconditional love to everyone she met. She was playful and enjoyed tossing a ball , taking her grandchildren to a local park, shopping and luncheons, she especially loved chocolate. Her energy was exuberant and she made everyone feel special. Louise, much like her mother was an excellent cook and was known for her southern hospitality. She was so giving that she was often giving away brand new clothing from her closet.
Louise was the best sister, wife, mother, g-mom or friend you could have been blessed to have. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. She is with our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ and we will be with her again. For now, all whom were touched by her will be forever changed and carry on her legacy in honor of Louise.
She was preceded in death by her father Herbert Barger, her mother Ruby Hacker Barger, her sister Carol Barger Delph, her brother Lonnie Barger and her grandson Dorian Durdak by a mere 42 days.
She is survived by her loving husband Jimmy Adkins, her son Christopher Adkins and daughter in law Misty Adkins , her daughter Tina Adkins and son in law Rhett Weisman, her brother Lyndon Barger, her sisters Lois Grider and Janet Eversole and seven precious grandchildren, Gavin Adkins, Kayelanni Cleek, Kayley Adkins, Kristin Adkins, Greer Durdak, Braeden Durdak and Connor Finger.
