Lois Hansen Pitcher

April 13, 1919 — March 21, 2005

Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Lois Hansen Pitcher, age 85, passed away March 21, 2005 at her home in Smithfield, Utah, following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at the time. Lois was born April 13, 1919 in Logan, Utah, to Leland Hyrum and Rozella Green Hansen. She met Darrell Merrill Pitcher in 1938 and soon discovered he was also born April 13, 1919. They dated and fell in loved and decided they should be married in the Logan LDS Temple on April 13, 1939. She and her husband, Darrell, built a service station and auto repair business in Smithfield which they operated until 1984 when Darrell retired. They remained close and loving companions for 57 years until his death in 1996. Lois graduated from Logan High School in 1937 and worked various retail positions until her marriage. She was involved in many civic organizations including Smithfield Civic Club, Smithfield Literary Club and a member of the Logan Golf & Country Club, Bloomington Gold & Country Club and Birch Creek Golf Club. For the last 9 years she also served as a Volunteer at Logan Regional Hospital. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, gardening, golf, watching baseball, and basketball but, most of all she was an avid USU and Utah Jazz fan. She is survived by two sons, Jed H. Pitcher and wife MerLynn of Bountiful; D. Clair Pitcher and wife Jeanette of Eugene, Oregon; 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great grandchildren; brother Bernell Hansen and wife Joy; and sister Donna Richardson all of Logan. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Vera Nielsen and two brothers Melvin and Warren. She will be remembered as a loving and considerate parent, grandparent, and neighbor. Funeral Services will he held on Friday, March 25, 2005 at 12:00 noon at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 N. Logan, Utah. Friends may call Thursday, March 24, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home and from 10:30- 11:30 a.m. prior to services on Friday. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
