Lois Downs, 80, passed away peacefully at her North Logan home on Friday, December 6, 2002. She was born March 18, 1922, in Smithfield a daughter of Arthur Edward and Birdie Cornelia Hunt Downs. She was educated in the Cache County Schools and at Utah State University. With the exception of a few years in Pocatello, ID, and Brigham City, UT, Lois lived her entire life in Cache Valley. She loved the outdoors, all sports, hunting and fishing and was an Aggie Ranger. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in the Primary. She taught physical education at Utah State University for 38 years. Lois is survived by her siblings, Glen E Loree Downs, Smithfield, Leslie J. Marion Downs, Hyrum, Weslie J. Marzell Downs, Hyrum, Venna D. Keith McBride, Plain City, L. Rolan Georgia Downs, Smithfield, Robert K. Reta Downs, Hyde Park, J. Lee Mary Downs, Quincy, WA, and Seth L. Sharon Downs, Smithfield; sisters-in-law Laura Downs, Logan and Clarice Downs, Smithfield; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Birdie, brothers, Parley A. and Lewis V. and sister, Nona. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, December 11, 2002, at the North Logan 12th Ward, 2540 N. 400 E., North Logan, with Bishop Dell Olsen conducting. Friends and family may call from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended online at
