Linda Myrle Timmins Gittins

July 16, 1940 — May 21, 2023

Linda Myrle Timmins Gittins, 82, passed away on 21 May, 2023, at her home in Smithfield, Utah,
surrounded by her family.

Mom was born July 16, 1940, in Logan, Utah, to Joseph Timmins and Alice Myrle Linford Timmins.
She was the oldest of four children: Lois Timmins Sorensen, Mary Alice Timmins Cook, and Garth
Timmins. She was raised and lived her entire life in Smithfield. She met the love of her life, Marlin
Gittins, in kindergarten, where she took him home with her after school one day. They began dating
when she was 15 and they fell in love right away. They were married in the LDS Logan Temple shortly
after she graduated from North Cache High school in 1958. They had a wonderful and loving marriage
and were blessed with six children: Linn, Mark, David, Helen, Chris, and Alison.

Mom worked at R&G Drive Inn for 18 years. She then began working at the Logan Temple cafeteria,
where she worked for 11 years before retiring in 2010.

Mom and Dad were married for almost 54 years, the last 15 years of which she lovingly cared for him
after his stroke.

Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many
callings, including a Relief Society Presidency, Primary, Cub Scouts, Blazer Scouts and Scout troop
committee. She was proud that all of her boys received their Eagle Scout award.

Mom was a member of her “Club” for over 50 years with all of her good friends. She missed not being
able to attend Club meetings in her later years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Mary, and daughters-in-law Jeannie Gittins and
Lesia Gittins.

Mom is survived by her 6 children: Linn (Joy) Gittins; Mark (Margot) Gittins of Warrenton, Oregon;
David (Linda) Gittins of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada; Helen Gittins of Smithfield; Chris (Debbie)
Gittins of Honeyville, Utah; and Alison Gittins (Chris) of Twin Falls, Idaho. She has 22 grandchildren,
36 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Lois (John)
Sorensen and her brother Garth (Sarah) Timmins.

There will be a viewing held at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main in Smithfield on Friday, June 2
from 6 – 8 p.m and at the church from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m prior to the services. Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, in the Smithfield 1st Ward Chapel at 175 South 100 West,
Smithfield. Internment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.

The family wishes to express gratitude to CNS Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they have
given to mom, and the burden they helped lift off of Helen’s shoulders. We also are very grateful for
all of the care Helen has given mom over the years. They worked together to give mom the care she
deserved.
