Beloved wife and sister, Linda Smith Clifford, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2005 after a long struggle with cancer. She was born June 13, 1943, to Jason Russell and Opal Bagstad Smith. She was a wonderful wife, best friend and companion, and an inspiration to many who knew her. She grew up attending Northridge and Glendale Academies in Southern California, graduating in 1961. She also attended De Anza College in Northern California and the University of Utah in later years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Linda married Jim Clifford in 1975. They lived in Salt Lake City, Southern Idaho near Malad, and San Diego prior to moving to Cache Valley in 1992. Throughout her life Linda worked at a variety of occupations: for doctors, hospitals and a law firm in Logan. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, gardener and collector of antiques with Jim. She liked being in the outdoors and watching wildlife, and she enjoyed feeding birds on her deck, and could recognize many different species. She was an avid reader. Although her dreams were cut short, her faith in God did not waver. This and her strong will helped carry her through during difficult times. Her positive attitude was an inspiration to her many friends.. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends including the members of the Maranatha Baptist Church who supported her through her long illness. Linda is survived by her husband, Jim, and two sisters and brothers in law, Sandra Steve Cox, Lake Stevens , Washington; and Carole Bob Talbott, Soledad, California; and brother in law, Ron Wendy Clifford, Murray, Utah; and also by five nephews and two nieces. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the Maranatha Baptist Church, 395 South Main in Logan. Friends may gather at the church 45 minutes prior to the service. . Deep gratitude is expressed to the volunteers who sat with Linda during the last months of her life while Jim was at work, and to the IHC Hospice nurses, aides and staff and to the Sunshine Terrace personnel who helped as well.
