Lewis Chase Mathews passed away on October 14, 2023, at the age of 40 in Mission, Kansas. He was born in Logan Utah on March 14, 1983, to Curt and Susan Mathews. Chase was the youngest of 3 children. He was raised in Smithfield Utah where he spent many of his days having fun and causing mischief with cousins and other family members. In his early years he enjoyed riding horses, playing football for his grandpa, milking cows, moving sprinkler pipe, racing pigeons, riding 4 wheelers and just being a comedian for anyone who was around.
Chase graduated from Sky View High School in 2001, while attending school he participated in FFA and enjoyed traveling with his other FFA members. Chase was extremely hard-working, very independent and a strong-willed person. There wasn’t much that you could do to stop him when he decided to complete a job. If there was a job that needed to be done Chase made sure that it got done and got done correctly. He was employed by Laser Precision for many years before getting his current job with Herff Jones where he worked for 12 years. Chase truly appreciated and enjoyed those he worked with; he made many lifelong friends while working at Herff Jones. Chase was known at work for his strong work ethic and his ability to get the job done. When Chase wasn’t working, which was rare, he spent his time hunting with his dog, Indy or golfing. Chase was handy just like his father, he liked to know how things worked and could fix about anything he put his mind to.
He is survived by his parents Curt and Susan Mathews, siblings Chet Mathews, Katie (Bryan) Hicks, 3 nephews and 3 nieces. As well as his partner Jamie Rindlisbacher and her daughter Baily Rindlisbacher, his grandparents MaryLee Pitcher, Ron and Sally Hartwick and many other loved family members. He is preceded in death by his grandfather's Stanford Mathews and Lewis Pitcher. Chase will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
