Lewis Jay Dabb

Lewis Jay Dabb, 64, of Smithfield, Utah, passed away on 22 July 2004 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City due to complications of heart surgery. He was born to Clyde Lewis Dabb and LaRene Wood on 7 May 1940. He graduated from Davis High School and Utah State University. He married Lynda Kay Henderson on 1 July 1959 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Hyde Park, Utah for 14 years prior to moving to Smithfield. Lewis taught guitar for many years and was an accomplished steel guitar player. Some of his students in later life would refer to him as a master teacher. His band, The Western Knights, entertained many groups. He was a freelance writer with many published articles to his credit. Lewis also enjoyed working in his blacksmith shop and garden. He was very creative and a craftsman in working with metal as well as leather. He collected casino dice and table chips and had a complete collection of Louis L?Amour books. Lewis was an active member of the LDS Smithfield 9th Ward. He is survived by Lynda, his four sons, Neil Carrie of Logan, Carl Maria of Logan, Glen Chris of River Heights, and Eric of Chandler, Arizona, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren with one more on the way. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and his wit and humor will be missed by his family. His favorite saying was ?Be Brave.? Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the Smithfield North Stake Center, 155 West 400 North. A viewing will be held Monday, July 26th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, and on Tuesday prior to services at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Smithfield Cemetery.
