Lester Erlyen Nelson

Funeral services for Lester Erlyen Nelson, 86, will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Christ Episcopal Church 415 W. Cedar Glenrock, Wyoming with Irwin ?Jug? Brandjord officiating. Internment will take place in the Glenrock Cemetery.
Lester died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, in Tremonton, Utah where his family was caring him.
Lester was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Lance Creek, Wyoming the son of Andrew Christian and Emma Margaret Hinrichsen Nelson. Back then, helping the family out was very important and left little time for a formal education. He received his early education at Bills Creek School.
His younger years were spent taking care of the family's livestock and haying on their ranch in the Lance Creek area. He then went to work for the Continental Oil Company for 32 years retiring in 1980. During his retirement, Lester enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
On Oct. 7, 1945, Lester married Hazel Ione Hansen in Lusk, Wyoming and they made their home in Lance Creek, Wyoming. They moved to Clareton, Wyoming in 1954 and in 1955 they moved to Glenrock, Wyoming where they resided for 50 years. Due to poor health they moved to Tremonton, Utah to live with their daughter and son-in-law in October 2006. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Hazel, and daughters, Cheryl Hubbard Gary, Tremonton, Utah; Diana Eskeli Dewey, Cody, Wyoming; and Katherine Ricker David Tucson, Arizona. Five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. Lester is also survived by brothers Elmer Nelson, Lusk, Wyoming, and Linden Nelson, Torrington, Wyoming, and sisters Laurine Jess, Scotia, Nebraska; Betty Cantrell, Glenrock, Wyoming; Violet Kurtz, Englewood, Colorado; and Ramona Wroblewski, Whiting, New Jersey. His parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded Lester in death.
