Leslie Harold Wight Thatcher, UT ? Leslie ?Les? Harold Wight, 83, passed away peacefully March 12, 2002, at the McKay Dee Hospital, from complication of pneumonia, surrounded by his loving family. Les was born July 7, 1918, the son of Almon Nelson and Elizabeth Young Wight. He was reared and educated in the Bear River Valley, graduating from Bear River High in 1936. Les lived all of his 83 years in Thatcher, UT. He married Maurine Olson, May 20, 1939. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on January 19, 1945. They were the parents of two sons and a daughter. She died July 25, 1962. He was married to Amy Wright. They later divorced. He married Donna Clark Russell, December 24, 1971, in Hyrum, UT. He was a veteran of World War II having been drafted at age 27. He left behind his young family to serve in the Asiatic/Pacific Region and was part of the occupation forces in Japan. He was a farmer, retired from Thiokol Corporation and enjoyed ten years working at Belmont Springs with his special friend Scott Holmgren. He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in many callings, including High Council, in the Bishopric and was presently serving a mission at the Family History Library. His passions were golf, socializing and making new friends. He never met a stranger. He had a wonderful last summer of golfing, going on a wagon train excursion, and working at the Golden Spike Monument. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren who adored him. We will miss his sense of humor, kind heart, and generous spirit. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; daughters, Leslie Alene Reed Nelson, Wichita Falls, TX; Emily David Barton, Tremonton; Cathy Brian Moriarty, Brigham City; Patty Cronquist; Christy Olsen Reiser, Ogden; Judy Jim Spurlock, Tremonton; Corinne Steve Atwood, Tremonton; 24 grandchildren; 14 great grandchldren; adopted grandson, Chandler Willie; two sisters, Francessa Summers Allen and Helen Welling MacFarlane both of Ogden and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, David and Paul; grandson, Tyler; a brother, James; two sisters, Mary and Bessie. Funeral services will be held , Saturday, March 16, 2002, 12:00 noon at the Thatcher/Penrose LDS Ward Chapel, 11475 West 10400 North. Friends may call Friday, March 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Saturday, March 16th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
