Tremonton, UT – LeRoy Junior Thompson, 82, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton. He was born March 15, 1926 in Centerfield, Utah to Roy Leo and Leah Y. Myrup Thompson. He was reared and educated in Tremonton and attended Bear River High School. He married Mary Lou Thomas November 4, 1944 in Tremonton. Utah. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple January 16, 1956. LeRoy loved his country and was a WWII Army veteran.
In 1991 LeRoy was declared an "unsung hero" by the state of Utah for his service assisting highway accident victims. He enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, hunting, driving "old yeller" and playing pool. He loved being with and supporting his family.
He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in the High Priest Group Leadership, the Elder's Quorum Presidency and as a Home Teacher.
Surviving are his wife; Children: Mary Ann Thayne Daniels, Malad, ID, Karleen Jim Poulsen, Deweyville, Sharon Craig Potter, Collinston, Karen Kelly Richardson, Roy and John Roy Angela Thompson, Garland; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Barbara Koford, Brigham City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 11, 2008 11:00 a.m. at Tremonton First Ward, 166 North Tremont St. with Bishop Wayne C. Larsen officiating. Family and friends may call Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Interment will be at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery with military honors.
