Tremonton, Utah ? Leoan Thomas Finch, 91, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2007, in Tremonton, Utah. She was born September 21, 1915, in Spanish Fork, Utah, daughter of David Alonzo Thomas and Hazel Isabell Nelson. She was reared and educated in Spanish Fork. She received an Associates Degree from LDS Business College.
She married Ray Hanson Finch August 31, 1940, in Spanish Fork. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple June 3, 1976. They were the parents of three daughters.
During their married life, Ray and Leoan lived in Manti, Spanish Fork, and Castle Dale before establishing their home in Tremonton.
Leoan retired from the Box Elder County School District after working for twenty years as secretary at the Bear River Junior High School. In the various communities where they lived, Leoan was involved in Lady Jaycees and Lady Lions. In Tremonton she was active in Simada Club, Literary Guild, and the Tremonton Civic Club.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in stake and ward Primary and Young Women Presidencies. She also enjoyed working in Cub Scouts, the library, and the speech and drama program.
She is survived by daughters: Linda Kay Owen Udy, Tremonton and Karla Rae Doug Cranney, Oakley, Idaho; eight grandchildren: Michael Mistee Udy, Karen James Horne, Jami Brad Theurer, Jason Andrea Udy, Tyler Renee Cranney, Natasya Chris Jackson, and Ali Marisha Cranney and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Ray and Rulon Thomas and one sister, Hazel Dawn Downey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Karen, brothers, George and John and sister, Margaret.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Bear River Valley Care Center and IHC Hospice for their loving care and support. The family suggests donations be made to the Care Center, Hospice, or a charity of choice.
A funeral service will be held Monday, February 12, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, Utah. Friends and family may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
