Logan - Lawrence Vernon Sharp, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 3, 2010. He was born January 11, 1926 in Coalville, Utah to David Sharp, Jr. and Adeline Barrett. His family moved to Logan and he graduated from Logan High School where he was a star basketball player. He attended Utah State Agricultural College, was a member of the Sigma Chi Epsilon Fraternity, and enjoyed boxing. Larry proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army as a paratrooper. Before his time in the service Larry worked as an Engineer with Chicago Bridge and Iron where he designed municipal water tanks. Over the years he lived in Salt Lake City, Utah; Monterey, California; and Las Vegas, Nevada, where he spent many years in motel management. Larry enjoyed fishing and was a member of the LDS church. He also had a special friend in his dog, Sandy, who was his constant companion. He is survived by a son, Alan Vicki McRae of Park City, Utah; a brother, Paul Daphne Sharp of Logan, Utah; a sister, Maxine Himmelberger of Monticello, Utah; four grandchildren: Brad McRae, Blake McRae, Ashley Hildebrand, Andrea McRae, and 3 great grandchildren, Caleb, Haley, and Mikela McRae. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Sharp; and two sisters, Rae Carol Vernon and Ruth Daffin. Larry was a caring father, grandfather and gentleman. He was incredibly giving and very gracious to everyone. He will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North.
