Salt Lake City Utah - Larry is the son of Lloyd William and Agnes Kellerman Anderson, Husband of Cheryl Rose Costello Anderson, Father of Paul William and twin sons Brady James and Christopher Matthew Anderson. Larry Anderson passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Larry was born October 29, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised on a dairy where he gained a love for animals and respect for hard work. After graduation from high school, Larry enlisted into the U.S. Army and served his tour of duty during the Korean War. Larry was a longtime resident of Kemmerer and LaBarge, Wyoming During the course of his life, Larry enjoyed working as a Dairy Famer, Truck Driver, Lincoln County Sheriff Deputy, School Bus Driver and Transportation Director for the South Lincoln County School District. Larry is remembered in many different ways to many different people. All will remember him driving a big blue Kenworth hauling crude oil out of LaBarge on Hwy 189, petal to the metal, both exhaust stacks smoking. Or driving a brown 1976 Chevy, Caprice Lincoln County Deputy Sherriff, again hammer down, flying down 189 going on some call for assistance or chasing some bad guy. Larry never moved very fast, unless he had at least 4 wheels or more – 18 under him and holding on to a steering wheel. Larry is perhaps best remembered for his service as a Lincoln County Sheriff Deputy. Larry is a legend in Lincoln County Law Enforcement. Larry was involved in numerous types of criminal cases, including thefts, assaults, child abuse, traffic accidents, bar fights, shootings, etc., in every case he treated people with respect and dignity, and he commanded and received respect from everyone he came in contact. His signature was his quiet demeanor, low voice, and easy going personality AND a Smith & Wesson 6" .44 cal magnum handgun hanging off his right hip, it looked like a cannon and commanded attention no matter where he went. People were immediately comfortable and at ease around him. You liked him right away even though you may have never met him before. Suspects he would arrest, never gave him trouble. Now, that may have had something to do with the .44 mag on his hip and/or "Duke", Larry's killer Doberman Pincher that was probably breathing down the guys neck! During tense law enforcement situations, Larry was the one person you always wanted beside you and backing you up. His presence created a sense of calm, rational thinking he brought common sense out of chaos. Larry and Cheryl Rose Costello started their lives together and married May of 1980 settling in Kemmerer for the next 25 years. Larry ended his law enforcement service in Lincoln County after many years of event filled service. He drove truck again for a short period of time before becoming a school bus driver for the South Lincoln County School District. As a school bus driver, he was the person that parents wanted to drive the bus their kids were riding on. Larry earned their trust, confidence and respect with his driving skills and wise good sense attitude. Larry was truly a unique person that held respect and friendship of every student, parent, teacher, and school administrator in the district. The young people loved him. This ability earned him the position of Transportation Director within the South Lincoln County School District, a position he held until he retired two years ago. Larry is survived by his wife Cheryl of Salt Lake City, UT, his three sons: Paul Gwen of West Virginia, Christopher and Brady both of Salt Lake City, UT. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Charmine Costello of Chicago, IL, brother-in-law John Christensen, nephew Jared, niece Erin all of Ogden, UT, two granddaughters Jennifer and Courtney, step-grandson Tony, step-granddaughter Julia Ryan and great grandson Ryan, of West Virginia.
