Riverside, UT ? LaVoy Udy, 86, passed away Friday, September 14, 2007 at his home. He was born July 27, 1921 in Riverside, UT to Thomas ?J? and Charlotte Timms Archibald Udy. He attended school in Riverside and graduated from Bear River High School in Garland. He served in the US Army honorably in the 11th Armored Field Battalion during WWII. He married Maurine Sandall February 7, 1944 in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away June 21, 1997. He was always a hard worker and ran the family farm most of his life. He drove truck for the Morning Milk Company and worked at U&I Sugar Factory. In 1986, he retired as a bus driver from the Box Elder County School District. He also worked on the custodial staff of the LDS Church and retired in 1991. He enjoyed bowling, yard work and was an avid Jazz fan. LaVoy will be missed for his love, positive attitude, humor and service to others.
LaVoy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions in the Belmont 2nd Ward. His sons will always remember his faithful example of a life-long Home Teacher. Surviving are his children: Jack Thomas Gloria Udy, Salt Lake City, UT and Warren Sandall Norene Udy, Germantown, MD; 13 grandchildren: Kendall, John, Jeff, Joel, Janet Moyes, Jennifer, Adam, Derrick, Jeremiah, Nathan, Sabrina Lytle, Holly Patino and Eli; 19 great grandchildren and his sister Vaudis Skinner. He is preceded in death by his wife, his brothers: Glen Bob, Newell and Delose; his sisters: Grace, Nina, Ione, Dorothy and Lillian.
LaVoy is also survived by a special, best friend, Valaine Hunsaker and her family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Belmont LDS Ward Chapel, 16925 North 5200 West, Riverside. Family and friends may call Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Thursday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment at the Riverside Cemetery.
