Lavon Herbert Seamons, 74, of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2002 at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on February 7, 1928 in Hyde Park to Herbert and Leora Seamons; the only son of six children. Following his schooling, he served a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in what was then called the Northwestern States Mission. After his mission, he spent 2 years in the army. During this time, he married Donna Ranzenberger on January 8, 1954 in the Logan Temple. Throughout his life, he was active in the LDS church and served in many different positions. Lavon enjoyed people, visiting and sharing humorous stories. He even earned the nickname of ?Happy? or ?Hap? for short. He enjoyed working with animals and playing with his grandchildren. Lavon is survived by his wife, Donna of Hyde Park; a daughter, Teresa Harrison of Vernal; a son, David Seamons and his wife Stacy of Hyde Park and 5 grandchildren: Jessica, Stan and Stefanie Harrison of Vernal and Shayla and Shantell Seamons of Hyde Park. He is also survived by 3 sisters: Marian Stephenson Ralph, Thelma McMurdie Joe, and Nola Carling Grant and brother-in-law, Wayne Mecham. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Geneva Mecham Wayne, Evelyn Alley and brother-in-law, Gerald Alley. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 6, 2002 at the Hyde Park 5th Ward Chapel, 65 East Center. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and on Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
