Tremonton - LaVon Brough Garfield life long resident of Tremonton, Utah passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2005.
LaVon was born December 21, 1912 a daughter of Raymond Gilbert and Edna Allred Brough. She married Jesse H. Garfield May 2, 1928 in Farmington, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple September 27, 1939. Jesse passed away April 18, 1997.
LaVon worked in several Tremonton businesses including Giffords Men Store, Safeway Market, Palmer's Jewelry and Men's Store and Miller's Jewelry.
LaVon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including counselor in the Mutal and Relief Society as well as Relief Society President and a Visiting Teacher for 72 years. LaVon and Jesse also served as Temple workers in the Logan Temple. She was a member of the Civic Club and Booklore Club.
LaVon was always known for her beautiful yard and the many, many hours of compassionate service.
She is survived by her three children, Klea Fae Wright of Moses Lake, Washington, Don Trudy Garfield of Garden City, Utah and Deanna Bob Arbon of North Logan, Utah. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and she carried their pictures everywhere. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Fern Horsley of St. George.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Francis Hill, Dona Bowcutt and a brother, Clarence Curley Brough, a son-in-law, Jack Wright, one grandson and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2005 at noon in the Deweyville Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and at the Deweyville Ward Chapel located at 10750 North Highway 38, Deweyville, Utah from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
