LaVelle Nielsen Combe, 85, left her loved ones here on earth to be reunited with those who have gone on before Monday, May 12, 2008. LaVelle lived a full and productive life. She was born in Hyde Park, Utah June 2, 1922 to Floyd T. and Libbie Lamb Nielsen. She grew up with four brothers and one sister: Don, Hal, and Kenneth, all deceased, Jay and Margie Payne survive her.
LaVelle spent her growing up years in Warren, Utah. She attended Plain City Elementary and graduated from Weber High School and Seminary in 1940. She married Jesse B. Combe in 1945, and later divorced. She had two daughters: Chris and Cheryl.
LaVelle was an accomplished pianist and organist. She was self taught and "played by ear" saying it was her gift from the Lord. She held many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ that allowed her to share this talent, from Primary to Relief Society, and was ward organist in various wards that she lived. LaVelle worked in the Ogden Temple for two years until she moved to Tremonton in 1975 where she was very active in the Riverview Ward, Tremonton Stake, from the time she moved to Tremonton to the time she became a resident of the Bear River Valley Care Center in 2002. LaVelle retired from Logan Savings and Loan, and then worked from her home doing LDS church genealogy extractions.
Writing was another of LaVelle's gifts. She wrote a story book for each grandchild and wrote poetry and short essays for family events and church assignments. She kept memorabilia that noted the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren in books and treasure boxes. She loved going everywhere with her grandkids, supporting them in all they did as they grew.
LaVelle is survived by the loves of her life and her inspiration for everything she did, her daughters: Chris Chournos Steve and Cheryl Simper Rick, their children: Clay S. Chournos Hayley, Courtney Harrison Mark, Buffie Rae Chournos, Amber Anderton Michael, and Libbie Calzada Cain, and 10 great-grandchildren..
We love you Mom/Grandma… Thank you for your life.
