LaVar Vernon Hansen Bear River City ? LaVar Vernon Hansen was reunited with his Heavenly family on March 1, 2002. He was born on April 22, 1927 to Hans Vernon Hansen and Doris Ione Jensen Hansen in Bear River City, UT, where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1945, then served in the United States Air Force. He married his only love, Vera Dominguez on March 3, 1951 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Ogden, UT. He worked at the Defense Depot of Ogden for a number of years, receiving numerous trophies for his excellent marksmanship in shooting competitions as a member of the Utah Peace Officer?s Association. One of his greatest joys was working his farms in Blue Creek and Promontory, which he did for over 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting on the homestead with the boys, and working with wood. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. LaVar is survived by his wife, Vera of Bear River City and five children: Deb Ken Werthmann, North Ogden; Rocky Shelby Whitaker, Bear River City; Gail Scott Whitaker, Pleasant View; Marge Cary Johnson, Brigham City; and Tyler Susan Hansen, Bear River City; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also had on brother, Gary Neil Hansen. He was preceeded in death by his mother, father and his sister, Deanne Nelson. Also, many aunts, uncles and cousins with whom he was very close. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT. Friends and family may call at the funeral home, Tuesday, March 5th from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. He will always be remembered for being honest and a hard worker, and for his unique Danish-style sense of humor.
