Laurena Buttars Henderson, peacefully returned home to her sweetheart, Dell on June 4, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born on April 9, 1927 to Wallace Spalding Buttars and Mary Eileen Clark and raised as an only child in Clarkston, UT.
Laurena lived in Clarkston, UT for the majority of her life. She spent her childhood barefoot at the family ranch north of Clarkston, while helping her dad on the family farm. She frequently talked about riding the horses and tending to the turkeys.
She attended the local schools and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and during WWII, she worked as a nurse in Brigham City, UT attending to the wounded.
On January 20, 1944, Laurena married the love of her life, Dell Farmer Henderson. Later to be sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had 5 wonderful sons. Together they rode horses in the “Clarkston Posse” and competed in competitions as well as rode in local parades.
After the tragic loss of her husband on June 30, 1966, Laurena spent a lot of her time with her boys while taking on both roles. She was a wonderful, caring, and nurturing mother and liked to take them snowmobiling, camping and so much more. Laurena started working part time at The Beanery Cafe and later on started work at Pepperidge Farm, (Campbell Soup) where she quickly moved up and became a lead, and from her cooking experience became a great asset to the company. She was also a very wonderful caretaker for her mother and uncles when they became ill. Laurena and her mother went many miles together, as they would not miss any of their families activities.
Known lovingly as “Grandma GG”, she treasured the hours spent in the outdoors with grandkids. Sharing stories, handing out push-up popsicles, countless meals, visiting and stealing a kiss on the cheek that as she called it, gave her “get up and go power” Laurena spent her life after retirement with her loving family and spent countless hours on her beautiful yard and flowers.
Laurena is survived by her son, Corey Clark(JoDell) Henderson; 3 daughter in laws, Ladawn Henderson, Dee Henderson, and Julie Anderson, 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dell F. Henderson, her sons, Jimmy Lynn Henderson, Van Dell Henderson, Michael Henderson and Mitchell(Joni) Henderson.
We express gratitude to Intermountain Hospice, Natalia and the staff at Legacy House.
