June 3, 1910 — April 10, 2007

Laura R. Keith, 96, passed away on April 102007, at the Cottage at Legacy House in Logan, Utah, from causes incident to age. She was born June 10, 1910, in Overton, Nebraska, to Elmer and Rachel Renstrom. Her family moved to Nampa, Idaho, in 1919, to establish a farm in Deer Flat. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1926 and entered nurses? training at Mercy Hospital in Nampa. She completed nursing training in 1929, receiving her RN. She worked as a special duty nurse for the next three years. She married John A. Jack Keith in 1932, and worked as both a special duty and office nurse during the next seven years of the Great Depression. Jack found permanent work with the U.S. Grazing Service Bureau of Land Management in 1939 and the couple moved to Shoshone, Idaho. Laura was employed as the Lincoln County Public Health nurse from 1948 to 1956. She was also active in the PEO, the county chairman of the American Cancer Society, and president of the local PTA. The family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1956 where she worked as an office nurse. In 1958, Jack died and Laura and her son moved to Boise, Idaho, to be near family. She worked for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, was the chief night nurse at the Emergency Ward at Saint Luke?s Hospital in Boise, and then became chief nurse at the Idaho State School in Nampa. She retired in 1972. In 1979, she moved to Logan, Utah, to be near her son and daughter-in-law and her two cherished grandsons. She became ?Grandma Keith? to many of her neighbors and their children along Hollow Road in Nibley. She volunteered several days a week at the Logan Regional Hospital and at the Logan Library until she was 90 years old and could no longer drive. She lived in Boise and Denver during the next four years while her son and daughter-in-law worked overseas, and returned to Logan in 2004 when they did. She had resided at Legacy House of Logan since 2005. She received kind, considerate and gentle care from the staff at Legacy House and the Cottage, and from her physicians, Dr. Russell Hirst and Dr. Glenn Mortenson. The family is grateful to them all. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Kenneth Renstrom. She is survived by her sister, June Irwin of Boise, her son John and daughter-in-law Linda Eagar Keith, and her two grandsons and their wives, John E Jack and Sara Keith of Denver and Benjamin and Latonia Keith of Chicago, as well as several nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. Her first great grandchild is due in May. She measured her worth in terms of giving of herself to family and friends, and she treasured her family above all. Mom, we will miss you. Grave-side services will be held at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa, Idaho, on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
