LaRue Jenkins Jones

LaRue Jenkins Jones, 89, died in Richfield, Utah on December 10, 2003. She was born November 22, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Wilford John Jenkins and Lucy Theophonia Griffin Jenkins. She married John Clive Jones in Ogden, Utah on July 16, 1932. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a sister, Virginia; a brother, Charles, and a great grandson, Andrew Brady Bassett. She was raised in Newton, Utah and attended school there. She graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah and was active in music. She also graduated from Seminary. After the death of her husband, she stayed with her son David for a time and also her daughter and other sons. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Music was a very important part of her life; she served as ward organist, also playing the piano for Mutual, Primary and Relief Society. She enjoyed playing for many people to sing and taught piano lessons for many years. She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Wilford J. Barbara Jones of Littleton, Colorado; Marlene John Wiser of San Mateo, California; W. Bruce Verleen Jones of Sevier, Utah; and David L. Florence Jones of Newton, Utah. She has 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, December 15, 2003 at the Newton 1st Ward Chapel, 90 South 100 West, with Bishop Kelly Griffin conducting. Friends and family may call at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Newton City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
