Larry H. Seymour, 75, of Providence, Utah, passed away from an aggressive form of brain cancer on June 24, 2024.  He is survived by his spouse, Dianne Siegfreid (Sig), his brothers, James Seymour (spouse Anna), Darrell Seymour (spouse Crystal), his sister Beth Thesier (spouse Leo), and several nieces and nephews.  Larry was born in Carthage, New York, to Evelyn R. Seymour (Burke) and Howard B. Seymour.  Larry was raised in Harrisville, near the mountainous Adirondack region in the north country of New York and remained a keen outdoorsman throughout his life.

He received his associate degree in Agriculture from the State University of New York and worked for the New York State Park System before serving on active duty with the US Air Force.  At the conclusion of his active duty, Larry served in the US Air Force Reserve until his military retirement.  When he met Sig in 1983, he was working as a surveyor for an international oil company in the Intermountain West.  He shared stories about his adventures like having to climb treetops just to reach the circling helicopter for the ride back out that were a testament to his adventurous nature. Larry became a familiar figure to many in Cache Valley, spending the rest of his professional life as a postal carrier, first in Providence and then Smithfield, until his retirement in 2010.

Larry and Sig enjoyed 41 years together while traveling internationally as well as making their annual spring and fall migrations to their additional homes in the Adirondack region of New York and the Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico.  Larry had lived in nine states and visited the other forty-one.  Although not one to seek center stage, Larry had a solid presence, a great sense of humor, enjoyed seeking out wildland adventures, and was an ardent fan of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team. He was extraordinarily kind and throughout his life he received the love and loyalty from four Labrador Retrievers and several very discriminating cats.

Larry was an industrious, physically active man who successfully remodeled three older homes and built a classic Adirondack guide boat.  His recreational pursuits included hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, camping, running a marathon, and playing on a local hockey team until age 70. Together at their Providence home, Larry and Sig created a popular garden retreat that includes his thriving fishpond and sheltering pavilion.

For so many, life has lost that extra sparkle with Larry no longer among us. A celebration and remembrance of Larry’s life will be held privately in late August.
