Lifelong Cache Valley resident LaRee Gordon McMurdie, 93, died Oct. 20 in Logan. LaRee was born Aug. 6, 1924 in Smithfield, UT the oldest daughter of Earl and Pearl Gordon. She married her high school sweetheart, Ellis Ray McMurdie, on April 8, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Our sassy grandmother and mother, LaRee, was the proud mother of 5 daughters: Kaylene (Bruce, deceased) Draper, Sharyn (Fred) Jardine, Marsha (Steve) Adams, LuAnne (Ed) Minnig, Jean (Don) Thedell. She was a devoted mother to her only son, Randy, who passed away in 1980. She was incredibly proud of her 16 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. LaRee was the older sister to Janet Wood and Erlene Hedrick.
LaRee and Ray were well-known as the couple behind R&S Floorcoverings. Ray laid carpet, linoleum, and tile while LaRee created custom draperies for their clients. They won multiple contests through their business and traveled the world.
When LaRee and Ray retired, they chose to spend their winters in Bullhead City, AZ in their motorhome. LaRee loved the warm weather and cherished the many friends they made there. LaRee was truly devastated when Ray passed away in 2010, but we are certain the reunion in Heaven was a joyous one.
