Kirk Irwin Cronquist

March 3, 1950 — July 10, 2007

Kirk Irwin Cronquist, 57, passed away in his home on Tuesday, July 10, 2007. Kirk was born in Logan, Utah, on March 3, 1950 to Scott Eugene and LaRue Irwin Cronquist. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He spent his early childhood in North Logan living on the family farm. It was there that he learned to love the out of doors, farming, and all of the adventures that go with it. As a young boy he loved little league baseball. He was particularly pleased to have pitched a no-hitter. He was always a ?cowboy? at heart. He graduated from Sky View High School in 1968. Shortly after graduation he served in Germany in the United States Army. After two years of service he received an honorable discharge. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base as a civil engineer. He worked as a supervisor in grounds maintenance and received a superior rating. He retired in 1999 and spent his remaining years working with the animals and land that he loved. He had a passion for horses. He worked tirelessly in the meadow on the family cattle ranch. He spent many hours working side by side with his brothers and his mother working the cattle. He was content and found joy in the simple things of life. He took great pride and pleasure in living in the home that was built by his great grandfather. He spent the last several years with Annie. They enjoyed many hours together in their home in Benson Ward. He was so grateful for her companionship. During the last months of Kirk?s life he was actively involved with the Ward Mission Leaders. He was enthused about the program and looked forward to meeting times. As a family we are so appreciative of the love and support offered to Kirk and Annie from those ward leaders. Through many trials Kirk never lost having a loving heart and a sense of humor. He never judged others and never spoke unkindly about anyone. Although during the past several years Kirk suffered from multiple health problems he never complained. He took pride in being a hard worker. He managed to continue to work as much as his weary body would allow him to work up until the very end. He was truly appreciative and often expressed gratitude to his family, particularly his mother, for the many kindnesses rendered to him through the years. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother LaRue Cronquist; brothers Kelly Sheryl Cronquist, Jed Cindy Cronquist; and one sister Launa Reece Murdoch. His teasing personality will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three sons, Travis Kilpack, Corey Kilpack, and Carlos Cronquist. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren. Though he had little contact with those grandchildren he was delighted when he saw them and he was proud of them. He leaves behind his dearest friend and companion, Annie. We are grateful for the happy times and memories that we will cling to. Although Kirk will be missed we find comfort in knowing that Kirk is a peace and free of the pain and suffering associated with this mortal existence. We love you, Kirk. Happy Trails! Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, under the direction of Bishop Dale Spackman. Friends and family may call on Friday evening, July 13th, from 6:30 ? 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 ? 1:30 p.m. prior to services.
