Kimber Mark Brown

December 28, 1949 — February 17, 2025

Richmond

Beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Kimber Mark Brown, 75, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025. Born on December 28, 1949, Kimber was the youngest of three children born to Mark and Alda Brown. He spent his childhood in idyllic Richmond, Utah, attending Park Elementary, Lewiston Junior High School, and North Cache High School. Kimber served in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood and Fort Bliss; his name is inscribed on the military memorial in Richmond, Utah, alongside his brother's.

Teaching himself to play the guitar left-handed at just eight years old, Kimber developed a lifelong love of music. He also learned to play the harmonica, banjo, ukulele, trumpet, and several other instruments. In addition to his musical talents, he enjoyed composing original songs and lyrics. His natural gift for music led him to play in various bands throughout his life, including the group My Friends, with whom he performed at charity events to raise money for local food banks. In his later years, he found joy in visiting nursing and assisted living centers, sharing his love of music with the residents.

Kimber enjoyed a good burger, a can of Coke, a Snickers chocolate bar, grilling, riding his four-wheeler up to High Creek, and taking walks around the neighborhood with his dogs, Chazzie, and later, Peppie. He was also an avid Scrabble player, known for his expansive vocabulary and near-unbeatable skill.

Throughout his career, Kimber held positions at Utah State University doing janitorial work, Weathershield, and CCI in Salt Lake City. Later in life, he worked as a delivery driver for Glacier Foods (later RSM), with a particular fondness for the Burley, Idaho, route, where he would joke about delivering "flies" (French fries).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark C. Fullmer Brown and Alda Larson Brown; his older brother, Bruce Alden Brown; his older sister, Sally Melanie Dixon; and his beloved Lhasa Apso, Chazzie.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly; his grandson; Kelly's mother, Gail; his nieces and nephews, Melanie Peterson, Carolyn Louise Brown, James Gerald Peterson, Melissa Anne Monaghan, and Teresa Joyce Kissel; and his beloved Shih Tzu, Peppie.

Special thanks to the doctors and staff at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah, the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah, and Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah, for the kind and loving care they provided to Kimber. Additional thanks to Gail and Kimber's friends and family who visited him and played a meaningful role in his life—he loved and cherished you all.

Kimber will be greatly missed.
