Kevin JDell Sackett, 49, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 8, 2009 after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. The beloved husband, father, son, and friend passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Paradise. Kevin was born in Brigham City to Carolyn Duke Steve Anderson and JDell Teresa Sackett. He attended school in Box Elder, Bear River and Cache school districts. In 1979 he married his high school sweetheart Cindy Checketts Sackett and they were blessed with two sons; Casey Jocelyn Sackett of Hurricane, Utah and Joshua Jennifer Sackett of Hyrum, Utah. Early in life Kevin worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, but for the past 21 years he worked for Vulcraft in Brigham City, where he recently became a millwright. He enjoyed his work and his sense of humor was appreciated by most. Kevin loved the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, especially at the Logan River course where he served as treasurer. He was a dedicated hunter and fisherman. His sons will forever have fond memories of fishing trips and building a hunting cabin in Scare Canyon for their many hunting outings. In the winter he and his family enjoyed snowmobiling, his favorite ride was to Scare Canyon to check on how the cabin was wintering. Kevin loved horses and dogs. In his youth he participated in High School Rodeo, where he rode bulls and bareback broncs. He later enjoyed cutter racing and most recently training his paint horse Wilson. When Kevin?s health kept him from his horses his focus turned to his ?cancer dog? Zip. When friends and family stopped to visit they were always entertained with the latest tricks he had taught Zip. Special thanks go to Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and his staff, Dr R. Mark Firth and staff and to the many Doctors and Nurses at Logan Regional Hospital, where Kevin and Cindy had many a Friday night date night. Kevin is survived by his loving partner, Cindy, his sons Casey Jocelyn and Joshua Jennifer. His Father; JDell Teresa Sackett, mother; Carolyn Steven Anderson, sister; Jalyn Neldon Cobbley, Brothers; Cardell Debbie and Randy Sackett.
