Kenneth Elmo Shaffer
March 6, 1911 — May 10, 2004
East Garland - Kenneth Elmo Shaffer, 93, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Monday, May 10, 2004 after a short illness. He was born in Acoma, NV on March 6, 1911, son of L. R. and Dora Woods Shaffer.
He married Lucille Oyler on August 11, 1933 in Brigham City. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. They were happily married for 70 years. He was reared and educated in the Bear River Valley.
He loved farming, gardening, camping, fishing and being with his family. He was always busy with his hands building and making things for his family.
He was a High Priest in the Hampton Ford Ward and held many positions in the LDS Church including Bishop of the East Garland Ward.
Survivors are his wife and children, LuAnn Andy Anderson, Kent LaDawn Shaffer, Dan Janeal Shaffer, Jean Jones, Joyce Larry Chambers, East Garland, Susan Jensen, Garland, IlaMae Reed Woods, North Ogden; 25 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sisters Effie, Iva, JoAnn; brothers Jasper, Don.
Preceded in death by parents, brothers Vernon, Ned; sisters Vera, Carmen, Lenna; sons-in-law Dwane Jones, Steven Jensen; granddaughter Jeanette Hurd; great grandchild Quay Jensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2004 at the Fielding Stake Center, located at 4375 West 15600 North, Fielding at 1 p.m. Friends may call Friday, May 14, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Fielding Stake Center.
Interment will be at the East Garland Cemetery.
