Surrounded by loved ones, Kenneth Ray Porritt returned to his Heavenly Father Friday Aug. 18, 2006 at the McKay Dee Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Apr. 24, 1938, to Ray Nathanial and Viola Hinman Porritt in Tremonton, UT. On Sept. 7, 1962 he married his high school sweetheart Peggy Ann Nelson in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with 4 children. His greatest treasure in life was his family. He loved spending time with them. Some of his greatest loves were being outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and sports. His most famous saying was ?just 10 more casts?. For many years he coached baseball and basketball teams. In his youth, he participated on many winning basketball teams, including the All-church Championship team in 1956. After attending Bear River High School and one year at Utah State University, he worked as a banker for 30 plus years. He was also employed as an insurance agent and parts salesman. In addition to working full time, he always found time to help many people with their yearly taxes. Throughout his life he was made many lifelong friends. He was a true friend to all and would do anything for anyone. For close to 15 years, he and his family spent their summers taking care of the Bear River City park. Over the years he has spent time serving on the Box Elder School Board, Bear River Town Council, and the Kiwanis. He was an active member of the church all of his life, serving as Ward/Stake Clerk for 37 years. He is survived by his wife Peggy; 4 children, Cindy Brooke Denkers; Penny Bruce Simmons; Casey TeriLyn Porritt; Dustin Cheryl Porritt; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and Buster his loyal canine companion; 2 sisters Betty Lou Lyle Crozier; Lois Paul Bone. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters LaRue Porritt; Ellis Winslow Rhoades; and brother Steven RaeAnn Porritt. He is now having a wonderful reunion with loved ones who have gone before him. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 22 at 12 PM at the Bear River LDS Church 5870 N 4700 W. Friends and Family may call at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home. Located at 111 N. 100 E. in Tremonton on Monday from 6 ? 8 PM and Tuesday at the ward chapel from 9:30 ? 11:30 AM Interment will be at the Bear River City Cemetery.
