Logan - Kenneth Burnice Hunsaker, 76, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah from complications following heart surgery. Ken will be truly missed. He was born June 5, 1932 in Elwood, Utah to Burnice and Elna Katherine Anderson Hunsaker. After graduating from Bear River High School in 1950, Ken enlisted in the US Navy in 1951. While in the service, he married Carol Lynn Capener in the Hawaiian Temple. He attended USU and Penn State receiving a PhD in English. He taught English at USU and served as department head for ten years, retiring in 1994. He was active in the local community, serving as president of the Bridgerland and Logan Kiwanis Clubs and a member of the Imperial Glee Club. Ken was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling many callings; serving in two bishoprics, a branch presidency, high priest group instructor and temple officiator. He also served as Church Employment Missionary and Temple Patron Missionary. He is survived by his wife, Carol Lynn; children: Bruce Norman Sandra Hunsaker, Jeri Lynn Charles Lewis, Kenneth Dean Lisa Hunsaker, Eric Alan Jill Hunsaker, Philip Drew Shawn Del Hunsaker, and Jason Blair Tracy Hunsaker; 27 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sisters: Edith Bronson, Lewis Alexander Shari Hunsaker, and Elaine Shuman. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law: Gordon Bronson, F. Kay Shuman, and sister-in-law, Betty Hunsaker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Logan 19th Ward chapel, 1255 North 600 East, Logan. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, and Monday at the church from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
