Kenneth J. Anderson

August 2, 1935 — February 2, 2011

Kenneth J. Anderson of Quincy passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 2, 2011, in Moses Lake, after a lengthy illness, joining his wife who pre-deceased him. Born August 2, 1935 in Hyde Park, Utah, Ken was raised in the Cache Valley in Northern Utah. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After serving in the Army he went on to earn his Degree in engineering from Utah State University, working his way through college. While attending college he met, fell in love with and married Margo Ann Goodsell, who was his constant companion till her death in 2003. He was completely devoted to her and missed her terribly after her passing.
Upon graduation Ken worked for Atk Thiokol Inc., in Corrine, UT. From there he went on to work for Boeing Industries being assigned to work in Santa Maria, California, Omaha, Nebraska, Fort Worth, Texas and Tukwila, Washington. After Boeing went through its downturn in the early 1970's, Ken went to work for the U.S. Naval shipyard in Bremerton, WA.
In 1989 he retired from the Shipyard and moved to Quincy where he owned a cherry orchard with his daughter and son-in-law. He lived there and they diversified by expanding their orchard into many varieties of apples. He always had his home open to his children and grandchildren, and the home was the place for near monthly family gatherings. Ken was known by all who knew him as a good natured person who could brighten your day with a joke or just a kind word. He was also a terrible tease which often got him into trouble with his wife. He was generous with his time and always willing to lend a hand when asked.
He enjoyed wood-working and even made several pieces of furniture that are still being used by family members. He was a good handyman who could fix almost anything and usually did.
He is survived by, three children: Cherylynn Joe Knutson and Margoleigh David Mosteller Anderson, all of Quincy, and Douglas Kirsten Anderson of Ephrata, six grandchildren and a great-grandson, a brother, Harold Anderson of Utah, two sisters, Barbara Bartschi of Nevada and Deborah Parker of Utah. He is also survived by his sister's-in-law and brother-in-law as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Margo Anderson, and two sisters Evelynn Shy and Dorrine Mansfield. While brightened by the knowledge that he has joined his wife, all who knew him are saddened by his passing and will miss him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 12th, at 11:00 am at The Nelson Funeral Home Chapel 162 E. 400 N.
