Kay Nard Obray

June 18, 1927 — February 26, 2004

Kay Nard Obray of Smithfield passed away February 26, 2004 at his home in Smithfield at the age of 76. He was born June 18, 1927 in Paradise, the son of William G. and Lydia Jackson Obray. He received his GED while serving in the US Air Force from 1952 ? 1954. He retired after serving 32 years in the US Air Force Reserve. He retired from Firestone Tire after 20 years as a commercial salesman and retired from Thiokol in 1992 after 13½ years. He married Shirlene R. Coleman on April 30, 1983. He was a High Priest in the Smithfield 11th Ward, where he had served in the High Priest Group, Ward & Stake missionary, a home teacher and in the Sunday School Presidency. He and his wife had also served as officiators in the Logan LDS Temple. He is survived by his wife, Shirlene; 3 sons and 3 daughters: Kathleen Obray, Providence; Debra Phil Lund, Hyrum; Gregory Susan Obray, Far West; Tracy Faith, Logan; G. Scott Coleman, Providence; and Julie Dean Johnson, Kearns; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Cecil Nish; Logan, and Lydia Mae John Kendrick, Logan; sisters-in-law: Sara Obray, Bountiful; and Mildred Obray, Riverton; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Services will be held at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 12:00 noon. A private family viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
