Kay Milligan Nilson passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016. He was born December 22, 1928 to Rose Milligan and Parley F. Nilson in Logan, Utah. He was the eighth of nine children. He married Lucinda May Thurston on August 3, 1949 in the Logan Temple. They had been married for 64 years at her passing in 2013.
He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Utah State University. He received his PhD at the University of Nebraska. The family moved to Vermont, where he was a professor at the University of Vermont. He later moved to New York, where he worked for Pollio Dairy Products. He concluded his career at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA, where he set up their Research Center. He retired in Hyde Park, Utah, spending the winters in Yuma, Arizona.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithful served in many leadership callings.
Kay and Lucinda traveled the world. They made life-long friends everywhere they lived and traveled. His love for his family was demonstrated by his example of a good and honest work ethic.
Survived by sons, Michael (Thyra), Bryan (Resa), Bradley (Ginny), Alan (Sue), Jon (Kathy) and daughter, Rebecca McCabe (Ron) and his sister, Jean Perkes.
Proceeded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers, three sisters, and a grandson. The viewing will take place on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Nelson Funeral Home on 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. He will be buried in the Hyde Park, Utah Cemetery.
