June Mary Peterson Butterfield died on April 1, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Crystal Burningham, where she had been given the loving care she required during her years of illness. She was born on Nov. 6, 1922 to Christian Fredrick Peterson and Lily May Roberts Peterson in their four room home in Lehi, Utah. On April 11, 1944 she married Henry Blake Butterfield in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Through the years they established homes in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Colorado and Washington. Twice June was called upon to support America and her husband by staying at home with their young family while Blake served in the military during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After World War II, Blake and June moved to Logan where they established a permanent home for their family. They opened the Spudnut Shop in a joint operation with June?s brother, Odell Pete Peterson, and his wife Gwen. June loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a teacher in the Primary and Relief Society and magnified her calling as a visiting teacher. Her joy in life increased as she served others. Her delight was to personally deliver delicious homemade meals to loved ones, neighbors and friends. Anyone who was down on their luck could count on June. Her home was a place of peace and refuge for her loved ones. She appreciated her happy home and loved to work with the flowers, roses and raspberries in her yard. She was an extraordinarily fine mother and grandmother and is affectionately known as ?Grandma June?. She will be missed and always remembered by her children and their spouses: Montana Dean Eliason, Alpine, Utah; Blake Roxie Butterfield, Oregon, Wisconsin; Crystal Gary Burningham, Logan, Utah; Robyn Kent Buttars, Lewiston, Utah; and Tad Lori Butterfield, Sandy, Utah. Her love will live on in her 22 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and the Thornhill family who were close to her heart. She is survived by her brother Odell Pete Peterson, Logan and her sister Norma McMillan, American Fork. She was preceded in death by her husband, Blake, her parents and brothers, Glen and Wayne. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 5, at 12:30 p.m. in the Logan 4th Ward chapel 294 N. 100 E. Logan. A viewing will be held Friday, April 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home 162 E. 400 N. and Saturday morning from 11:00-12:00 a.m. at the church. The family extends special thanks to those who have loved and visited June during her illness. They are very grateful for the gentle care she received from Dr. Nordell Brown, Rocky Mountain Hospice and Alpine Home Care. Condolences may be extended to the family at
