Benson- June West Cowley, 86, of Benson, died on May 29, 2005 at the Logan Regional Hospital. She was born on June 16, 1918, in Morgan, Utah, the daughter of Preston Dangerfield West and Eliza Genevieve Mecham. She married Joseph Enos Cowley on October 30, 1944, and they were sealed in the Logan Temple in 1945. Joe passed away in 1992. June grew up in Smithfield, graduated from North Cache High School and attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She lived most of her married life in Benson. She sang with the Ava Verum Chorus, and in many other Choirs, Quartets, and Operettas. Her hobbies included: embroidering, crocheting, genealogy, and reading. June worked the family farm with her husband whom she was married to for 48 years. She served faithfully as a primary teacher for 26 years. She was a popular drama director, including the directing of many plays, melodramas, and roadshows in Benson. June also served several years as a visiting teacher supervisor. She is survived by her children ? Joseph LuDean Cowley of Logan, Scott Diane Cowley of Lakewood, CO, Annette Pedersen of Vernal, Margaret Carter of Paradise, Linda Cowley of Benson, Leigh Alice Cowley of Benson, and Neil Linda Cowley of West Valley City; two brothers ? Donald West Leola of Hyde Park, and Doyle West Ardith of California; one brother-in-law, Ned Bowen, Idaho; 32 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and two on the way, in addition she has many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. We will all miss her love, her songs, and her infectious laugh. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; one brother ? Quentin West; two sisters ? Eva Lou Bowen and Kathleen Carter; a grandson ? Brent Cowley; granddaughter ? Christeen Cowley and a great grand daughter--Emily Kim ; a daughter-in-law ? Linda Rose Cowley. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Benson LDS Church located at 3432 North 3000 West. Friends may call on Thursday, June 2, 7-9 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, and at the church on Friday before the service from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
