Judith Dale Petersen Berry
September 25, 1944 – July 9, 2016

Our loving sister, mother and grandmother Judith Dale Peterson Berry passed away peacefully with her two sons at her side on July 9, 2016. She was born in Brigham City, Utah to Charley Elmer and Anna Marguerite Petersen. She was the youngest of nine children.

Judi had a thirst for life and a love of the journey. Her earliest days were spent running in the fields on the family farm in Promontory, Utah or in the hills behind the family home in Deweyville, Utah. She was a fierce protector of her sister, and later her children. She loved to travel and enjoyed the splendor of Hawaii, the beauty of Southern Utah and the surrounding areas visiting Indian ruins while rock hunting and the awesome grandeur of the California and Oregon coasts. This love was passed to her children with family vacations to Bear Lake, Yellowstone, Southern California and camping in the mountains surrounding their Paradise home.

Judi’s most important legacy however was her compassionate and selfless nature. She always put the needs of others before her own. She was active in humanitarian efforts and lived a life of service. Her church service included multiple callings in the Primary, Cub Scouts and the Relief Society. She led the humanitarian efforts for both her ward and stake and served as a service missionary in the Logan LDS Distribution Center.

Those who knew Judi knew that she loved to quilt. Her quilts have been sent to individuals around the globe. Her greatest quilts however, were saved for her children and grandchildren.

Judi is survived by her two children, Justin Scott and Douglas Charles (Valerie), her five grandchildren, Taya, Jaxon, Payson, London and Ezekiel (Zeke). She is also survived by her siblings Gay, Toni, Richard and Linda. She is preceded in death by her husband Scott and her siblings Jerry, Belle, Sue and John.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the LDS Chapel located at 155 E. 9400 So. Paradise, UT. Burial will take place at the Paradise Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 No. Logan, UT.
