Brigham City, UT – Joyce Arlene Nelson Thompson, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, October 12, 2008. She was born January 20 1933 in Brigham City to Theodore Oscar and Virginia Arlene Butler Nelson. She married James Neil Thompson on September 8, 1950, in Malad, ID. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on November 14, 1981. Joyce dedicated her life to her husband and children, spending many happy moments in activities her children chose to participate in. Joyce was an avid high school wrestling supporter and statistician for all of Northern Utah. She was the recipient of the First Lady of Wrestling Award at the Richardson Memorial Tournament. She was a member of the Brigham City LDS Third Ward where she served as Cub Scout Leader for many years. Neil passed away March 19, 2005. Joyce and Neil spent over 50 wonderful years together before he went on to prepare for her to follow. We are at peace knowing our parents are together again. Joyce missed Neil tremendously and looked forward to the sweet reunion of being together again. Surviving are her children: Randal Neil Jolee, Rickie Lee, both of Brigham City, Ronald Scott Kathy, Ogden, Julie Ann Norman Higgs, North Ogden and Susan Mary Thompson, Honeyville, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother, Doug Nelson and sisters: Dora Payne and Sherry Jones. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and daughter-in-law, Patty Thompson. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Brigham City 3rd Ward Chapel, 203 North 200 West, Brigham City. Family and friends may call Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00-10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment at Brigham City Cemetery.
