Joyce Beutler Seamons

July 17, 1927 — December 25, 2016

Joyce Beutler Seamons, 89, peacefully passed away Christmas Evening, Dec. 25 at the Cache Valley Assisted Living Center in Providence. She was born the third of four children July 17, 1927 in Logan, Utah to William Beutler and Mary Abigail Meikle Beutler.
She lived her entire life in Logan except the last 10 retirement years she resided in Providence. She met her future husband, Ken Seamons at a New Years Eve Dance at the Dansante on his return home from serving in the Navy. They were married June 7, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple the same day as her sister Betty Lou. Her mother told the two girls since you’re both engaged, lets just do this once, so they were both married the same day,
Joyce spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, but also was employed as a secretary at Utah Mortgage Loan, and in the student loan office at USU. Ken served 26 years as Athletic Equipment manager at USU. She was fortunate to enjoy the friendship of many student athletes and coaches and traveled with the team to many away games throughout the states, including Japan. Many times they invited and fed student athletes in their home to watch the Super Bowl, other sporting events, or enjoy a backyard cookout.
As a busy homemaker she enjoyed sewing clothes and prom dresses for her daughters. She loved to sit on her front steps to enjoy flowers, and the beauties of nature. She was especially proud of her beautiful roses. In later years she spent time reading, and knitting.
She loved little children and served many years as a Primary teacher. She was a faithful Visiting Teacher to many. She and Ken enjoyed several years serving as officiators in the Logan LDS Temple.
Joyce is survived by her three children, Judy Daines (Mark), of Hyde Park, Jan Hugie (Roy), of Mt. Sterling and Blake Seamons (Tami), of Smithfield. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one grandchild.
Her surviving siblings include Betty Lou Peterson, (Miles) Logan, and her sister-in –law, Cora Beutler (Wendel (Bill) Beutler), Murray, Utah. Preceding her in death is her older sister Shirley Clyde (Ned) Berkley, California, and younger brother Wendel.
She will be forever remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was quick to smile and loved to be in the company of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 30 at the LDS church house located at 155 North 100 East in Providence, Utah. Friends may call at the Nelson Funeral Home located at 162 East 400 North Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and at the church from 9:30-10:30 A.M. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery.
