Joyce Hall Lehman

December 17, 1929 — July 12, 2008

Joyce H. Lehman, 78, passed away peacefully at the Logan Regional Hospital, Saturday, July 12, 2008, from complications of surgery, surrounded by her family. Joyce was born in Plymouth on December 17, 1929 in the family home, to Otto Eugene Hall, and Leona Grace Nish Hall. Mom attended elementary school in Portage until she was 10 years old when the family moved to Logan. She finished her education in the Logan schools, graduating from Logan High in 1948. Mom and Dad first met when they each had separate dates to a group function. Before the evening was over they had switched dates and have been inseparable since. They sealed their love in the Logan LDS Temple on May 26, 1950. They spent most of their married life in Logan, living in the same home. Mom worked at Utah State University for 19 years, taking an early retirement so she could return to her favorite job of being a homemaker. Mom is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served in many positions in the church auxiliaries. Her favorite calling was that of a teacher. She loved learning and was passionate about books. Mom has a beautiful voice and loves singing and enjoying good music, especially Christmas music. She had many interests and hobbies but her favorite way to spend her past time was pampering her dogs, Prince, Angel and McDuff who are lovingly referred to as our 4-legged sister & brothers. Family was always most important to Mom and Dad. They would never miss a game, concert or any important event in the lives of their children and grandchildren, even if it meant flying to Texas, Montana, Florida or anywhere else. Distance didn't matter. Mom is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Ervin, and their children: David Jensen deceased, Terrie Marie Allen Bryant of Drummond, Montana, Lynette Duke Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Valerie Alan Ringer of River Heights, Utah, Debra Dan Maddern, both deceased, Cynthia Blair Thomson of Providence, Utah, Kerry Becky Lehman of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and Charlotte David Maughan of Avon, Utah. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Lynette Hall, Verda Baugh, and Deanna Gary Morse. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Jensen, a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Dan Maddern, and a granddaughter, Angela Ringer. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the staff in the ICCU unit of Logan Regional Hospital. They gave Mom the most excellent care, especially Rusty, Karen and Chad. We also extend a very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Allan Anderson. He went above and beyond what was necessary in order to do all that could be done to preserve our mother's life, all the time being sensitive and very caring to the things that we as a family were feeling. We are so grateful for the tender way he cared for our mother. The amazing sensitivity we received made a most difficult situation easier. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at noon in the Mt. Logan Stake Center Logan 7th ward, 565 E. 100 So. A viewing will precede the funeral at 10:30-11:30 a.m. There will also be a viewing Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home 162 E. 400 N., Logan, Utah. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com
