Joy L. Jones of Newton, Utah died November 12, 2008 at Logan Regional Hospital. She was 91 years old. She was born in Newton October 3, 1917. She attended school at Newton Elementary, North Cache High School and Utah State University, where she completed a BS degree in Elementary Education. She married John G. Jones "Jock" of Fielding, Utah on July 22, 1940. They moved to Vallejo, California where their two daughters, Judy and Linda were born. They moved back to Newton in 1946 and Jack died in 1950. After his death, Joy taught elementary school in Box Elder County for 30 years. She was an outstanding teacher who influenced many young lives. During her lifetime she served in every auxiliary in the LDS Church as well as several stake callings. She also served as a temple volunteer and ordinance worker for 6 years. She enjoyed gardening, golf, painting, reading and travel. She is survived by her daughters: Judy Glade Hymas; Linda Max Jacobson; 4 grandchildren: Jan and Paul Olsen; James Hymas and Julie Hymas; 4 great grandchildren: Kylie and Seth Hymas and Zoe and Carli Olsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Newton Ward Chapel, 90 South 100 West, Newton, Utah. A viewing will precede the service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Newton Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at
