Joseph Wallace Thurston

Joseph Wallace Thurston died November 21, 2004 in Las Cruces, New Mexico of causes incident to age. Joe was born 11 April 1957 to Frank and Rhoda Thurston formerly of Hyde Park. He will be honored at a viewing from 9-11 a.m. and a funeral at 11 a.m. in the Hyde Park Center Street Chapel this Saturday, November 26, 2004. Joe grew up in Hyde Park. He had a special relationship with his father, Frank Thurston, who taught him how to use a power saw and a lawn mower. He loved being with his father and was able to help him when he went to cut trees. As he grew older, he was often seen mowing lawns and the ditch banks of Hyde Park. Joe loved to work. He loved the good people of Hyde Park who loved him and greeted him with kindness at ball games and church and anywhere they met him. Joe had a loving spirit. During his father's last illness, Joe was often the first one there when his father needed assistance. He was strong enough to lift him into bed with the tenderness expressions of love. He also took care of his mother lovingly. His sweet way of saying "Hi, Mom" when he returned from work was a touching experience. When Rhoda had a heart attack, it was Joe who ran to the neighbors for help. If I were to use one word to describe Joe, it would be love. He radiated it so freely. He had a deep love for Jesus Christ. He loved to pray and he prayed for all of us. How close he was to the angels. Joe attended the Cache Industries and Seminary classes in Logan. He was honored as a neighbor by the newspaper. When he moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico. Joe worked with his brother, Ken, in construction. Joe is survived by his mother, Rhoda W. Thurston, who resides in Logan House and five brothers, Thomas, Myrl Orvetta, Bernard Marie, Jerry and Ken Vicki who has been his caretaker for the last five years and three sisters, Alice Dee, LaRue Thayle and Rachel Sheldon and numerous nieces and nephews.
