Snowville ? Joseph Samuel Steed, 92, of Snowville, UT, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Mesa, Arizona. He was born June 14, 1909, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Joseph F. and Charlotte Branford Steed. Joseph lived and attended school in Ogden, East Canyon, Clinton, and Clearfield. He moved with his family to Stone, Idaho, at age ten, where he graduated from High School. He then attended Weber State College in Ogden for a year. Then he served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. He married Marjorie Smith on October 17, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Stone where he was a farmer and rancher. He also drove milk truck between Yost and Tremonton for several years. He helped to organize rodeos in Stone. He was the secretary for the Cattleman?s Association in the Curlew Valley. Joseph was a High Priest in the Curlew Ward, he also served in many church callings including a counselor in two Bishoprics. For 23 years they spent their winters in Yuma, Arizona, where they owned and operated a RV Park. For the past few years they have lived in Mesa, Arizona, with their daughter Susan Rocz. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marjorie; two daughters, Susan Rocz of Mesa, Arizona and Jolene Snow of Stone, Idaho; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at the Curlew LDS Church in Snowville, 75 North 100 East. Friends may call April 3rd from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, and Thursday, April 4th from 9:30 ? 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Snowville Cemetery.
