John Elwood Sorenson

January 25, 1912 — November 24, 2003

John Elwood Sorenson, 91, of Logan returned to his Father in Heaven on Monday, November 24, 2003, at the Logan Rehabilitation Nursing Home. He was born on January 25, 1912 in Hyrum, Utah, where he spent his childhood. He was the youngest child of Peter and Edith Eliason Sorenson. John moved to Logan after his marriage to Ella Larsen, January 2, 1936. Their marriage was later solemnized on January 31, 1939, in the Logan LDS Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together in 1986. They enjoyed their life together until Ella?s passing on November 26, 1994. He was an active member of the Logan 9th LDS Ward. He held a position of High Priest and served as a home teacher for many years. He worked for the Royal Bakery, the Fire Department, and the Bluebird for 32 years. He has been a member of the State Fireman?s Association for 58 years. But his real enjoyment was visiting with his friends and family, and was an avid Jazz fan. Surviving are his five children: Margene Ross Woodward, Logan; Marilyn Sorenson, Smithfield; Gwen Robert Nuttall, Clearfield; Don Margaret Sorenson, Hyde Park; Phyllis Lonnie Kay, Randolph; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, November 28, at the Logan 9th LDS Ward, 125 E. 500 North, with Bishop Mike Jones conducting. Family and friends may call before the services from 9:30-11:30 at the same location. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Hospice, and special thanks for the diligent, loving care given to John at the Logan Rehabilitation Center. He sends a ?Hug? to all of you.
