John Carl Monson 56, passed away on Tuesday, February 25 2009 from complications of diabetes. He was born in Logan on August 25, 1952 to Neils John Monson and Helen Peterson Monson. He was raised in Millville, and educated in the Cache County School District, graduating from Sky View High School in 1970, and attended Utah State University. He served in the California North Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had been employed at Utah State University for almost 30 years, working for Printing Services and University Extension. John had been a participant in The Festival of the American West Pageant for over 15 years. He had served on the Millville City Council. He was a High Priest in the Millville Third Ward, having served in many callings. On August 4 1977, he married Janette Kingsford in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After living in Logan for a year, they moved to Millville. They had two children, Jolayne and Jason. He is survived by his wife of Millville, a daughter, Jolayne Monson, of Millville, and son, Jason Carl Tiffany Monson of Logan; a brother, Albert Neils Monson and a sister, Helen Louise Monson, both of Millville, and one precious granddaughter, Tristann Josephine. He is also survived by an uncle, Oscar Leora Monson and an aunt, Clara Edward-deceased Monson all of Millville; and many cousins; and his mother-in-law, Joan Kingsford of Niter Idaho, other in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many uncles, aunts, cousins and his father-in-law. Funeral services will be Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Millville Third Ward chapel, 110 South Main in Millville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday Evening at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, and at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday prior to services.
